When reading Catherine O’Brien’s article I was able to relate to her situation. She had her son, described as a digital native, listening to his ipod, chatting on-line and revising for his exams.
My daughter is a little older and has no exams to revise for, but I am still amazed at the multi-tasking she seems capable of. She is often found listening to her music on her ipod, texting a friend (or set of friends!) on her latest phone, chatting to other friends on-line through facebook and watching her favourite programme on TV!
I am aware that the youth of today, the digital natives, are said to be able to multi-task, but I have to ask how much of this information is actually taken in? And if my daughter was revising for exams in this fashion I would be concerned as to how well would she do?
